Career & Technologies Studies (CTS)
Career and Technology Studies (CTS) offer an alternative to conventional classroom learning. Courses emphasize “learning through doing” and are activity centered. Introductory courses are exploratory in nature to accommodate a variety of interests. Courses at the intermediate and advanced levels become more focused and develop skills suitable to more advanced studies. Each CTS course has a value of 1 credit. CTS courses in grade 10 are offered during 1 block of time and students typically get 5 or 6 credits, depending on the number of courses they complete. Some intermediate and advanced CTS courses are offered for an entire morning or afternoon. In this case, students are able to earn 10 or 11 credits.
Please note further details on all of our CTS courses can be found in the Bev Facey Registration Guide.

Skills Canada Alberta
Skills Canada Alberta promotes careers in the skilled trades and technology industries through annual Skills Canada Alberta Competitions. Winners at the Provincial level progress to the National Competition held in a different province each year. These competitions are free and open to the public, who are invited to try hands-on skilled trades and technology activities at many Try-a-Trade@ and Technology stations.
Bev Facey actively participates in many Skills areas. Our students regularly place in Regional, Provincial and National competitions. Students that are interested can speak to their teachers about participating in events in Skills competitions in:
2D and 3D animation
