Your School Council

School Councils were formed to support the school and provide the opportunity to advise the principal and school board on any matters relating to the school and education.

Our School Council is made up of interested parents, the principal, a teacher and a student.  All parents of students attending Bev Facey are members of the School Council.  As a parent, you are always invited to attend any meeting.  We are a fairly informal group who meet once a month to discuss school issues.

At every meeting, parents have the opportunity to hear reports from the school administration, student representative, and committee of school councils' representative as well as a report from the school board trustee assigned to our school.  Parent participation is encouraged and there is usually lively discussion on a wide range of topics.

There isn't any fundraising done by our School Council!!

According to the School Council Regulation we are to be given the opportunity to provide advice on the development of the school's mission, vision, and philosophy; policies; annual education plan; annual results report and the budget.

School Council Update

As we begin another school year I would like to welcome all new and returning families.

The main function of school council is to inform parents of the many things that are taking place at the school and affecting students, as well, an opportunity to share a parental view on the school's policies and practices.  Attending monthly meetings is not the only way you can be involved in your school council.

Being on school council's email distribution is an excellent way of staying involved and informed of school council's efforts.  Those families who are on council's email distribution will receive an advance copy of the meeting agenda, a copy of the minutes of the previous meeting, information that would be of interest of Bev Facey parents and invitations to provide your personal views on topics that council is seeking feedback to share with the principal.  Providing your parental views allows council to represent the various views of parents of Bev Facey.

If you are interested in being included on the school council's email distribution please forward your email address to the chairperson.

School Council will be holding its first meeting on Tuesday, September 14th at 7pm in the school's conference room.  The conference room is located in the main office area.  Please enter the main office area through the door that is between the two main entrance doors.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the Chairperson.
