The Bev Facey Cross Country Team recently won the Edmonton Metro Championship for the fourth consecutive year; thus beginning Facey’s official banner watch! With close to 40 schools competing, Facey finished 2nd overall behind Scona, but proved to be the best amongst the Edmonton Metro Conference schools.
It was an overall team victory for our 37 member team, with all 6 age categories contributing. Our Senior Girls were Champions; winning the overall trophy for their category by defeating the perennial powerhouse from Scona (who ended up winning all 5 other categories). The following are the results of all our teams at the zone championship:
Jr. Girls – 3rd
Jr. Boys – 2nd
Int. Girls – 2nd
Int. Boys – 5th
Sr. Girls – Champs!
Sr. Boys – 3rd
Girls Aggregate – 2nd Overall
Boys Aggregate – 2nd Overall
Team Aggregate – 2nd Overall
On October 20th, 14 of our runners travelled to Red Deer to compete in the ASAA Provincial Championships, where they represented Bev Facey and the Edmonton Zone. Leah Arthur, Raven Patterson, Alandra Jessup, Bailey Sallis, Kirsten Grado, Lindsay Piper, Kaylee Dilley, Brendan Calef, Noah Samycia, Elliot Johnson, Kyle Sears, Isaac Elm, Brendan Elford, and Sean Haliburton all made the trip. All 14 runners ran extremely well, and represented Facey with class! Top 25 finishes were turned in by Brendan Calef (4th Jr. Boys), Brendan Elford (16th Sr. Boys), Alandra Jessup (19th Int. Girls), and Bailey Sallis (25th Sr. Girls). Overall Bev Facey finished 5th in the entire province for team aggregate!
Congratulations on a fantastic year Falcons! We hope to see everyone else back next year to defend our Championship!
